DADRI is committed to paying back to the community by providing support to local capacities interested in data research, documentation, and archiving through offering capacity-building workshops, training, summer schools, and courses. We cover entry-level data collection, data processing, data management, and data visualization training, coding and data extraction and unification techniques workshops, and designing and structuring archives training.
Our 2018 data management school was the first of its kind in the Egyptian market to target individuals with an interest in data research and documentation without requiring a background or prerequisites for participation. We design our schools with a practicum component where participants have space to implement their learning in a small data project of their choice and interest. This is to ensure participants walk with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
Our schools, workshops, and training aim at creating a community and a network of data researchers and archivists in the Egyptian society and the Arab world more generally and spreading a culture of knowledge and information sharing.
We aim to expand and develop our educational tools and offer future training and workshops for:
- Mapping software: OpenStreetMap, ArcGIS, and QGIS
- Qualitative coding software: NVIVO, RQDA, and AQUAD
- Data management software: Tableau
